... and more

I was born in Rainham, Kent, way back and have had an interest in space and astronomy since goodness knows. It was actually earlier that that, but the mists of time prevent me from recalling much more.

My lifetime passion for the subject has led me to some great opportunities including my first real leap into space as Captain Cosmos with a monthly live phone-in on BBC Radio Kent's Pat March Show back in 1994. The date may have changed, but I still appear on Pat's show inflicting my night sky ramblings on the unsuspecting public. SO, now you know where he came from.

On 5th November 1997 I presented an Astronomy for Beginners on the BBC Children's programme Blue Peter. This was followed by thirty appearances on the show over seven years, covering everything from Simple Stargazing to Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity! During my time there I was privileged to be able to visit some of the world's major observatories - those on La Palma, in the Canary Islands, in 2000 and Hawaii in 2003.

I also worked at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich for nine years where I wrote, produced and presented planetarium shows.

Finally, my philosophy has always been to make the astronomy I deliver entertaining, educational and, above all, accurate.

Bla, bla bla. Now you've read all that nonsense, why not click on that picture up there at the top-right to see if the Space Station is visible for you tonight?
